Bond Beebe Principals Present at IFEBP’s 57th Annual Employee Benefits Conference

Bond Beebe, a certified public accounting and advisory firm with offices in Bethesda, Maryland and Alexandria, Virginia, announced that three of their Principals participated in the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans’ (“IFEBP”) 57th Annual Employee Benefits Conference, which took place on October 30 through November 2, 2011 in New Orleans, Louisiana.  David P. Dorsey, Scott M. Price and Lawrence R. Beebe each participated in separate speaking engagements during the program.  The IFEBP is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to being a leading objective and independent global source of employee benefits, compensation and financial literacy education and information; the Annual Employee Benefits Conference offers almost 200 sessions and workshops that address topics concerning those who serve multiemployer and public employee benefit plans and provides opportunities for networking and collaboration.

Dorsey presented a workshop entitled “Running Your Apprentice Fund Like a Business,” and co-presented a session entitled “Refresher on Trustee Expenses” with Andrew E. Staab, Felhaber, Larson, Fenlon & Vogt, P.A.   He also moderated “Employee Benefit Issues in the Crossfire,” with Howard M. Bard, Of Counsel, Slevin & Hart, P.C.; Charles T. Carr, Chief Executive Officer, Southern Actuarial Services Company, Inc.; Margaret C. Lemkin, President, Med-Care Management, Inc.; and Regina C. Reardon, Administrator, Healthcare Strategies, Inc. as panelists.  Price co-presented “Maximizing Your Payroll Audits” with Philip Vivirito, Bond Beebe’s Director of Payroll and Compliance Auditing.

Beebe co-presented several sessions, including “New FASB Rules and Their Impact” and “Dealing with New Disclosures in Multiemployer Plans” with Richard Sawhill, Executive Director, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Mechanical Contractors Association of Southern California; Cary Franklin, Principal, Horizon Actuarial Services, LLC; James Estabrook, Partner, Lindabury, McCormick, Estabrook & Cooper, P.C.; and John McNerney, General Counsel, Mechanical Contractors Association of America, Inc.  He also co-presented “Conflicting Loyalties – When Neither Hat Fits,” with Joseph J. Burke, Administrator, Iron Workers Mid-America Pension Fund; William A. Martin, Trustee, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 654; Peter F. Castellarin, Chief Executive Officer, M&O Insulation Company; and Staab.  Additionally, Beebe participated in the Conference’s Trustees Masters Program®, facilitating the “Open Issues Forum” and the “Case Study Breakouts” with Sawhill; Cumming; Franklin; Alan R. Parham, Joint Benefit Funds Coordinator, Laborers’ District Council Benefit Funds; and Edward D. Patchett, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Independent Fiduciary Services.
